Pastors Adan & Pilar Carvallo
Pastor Adan Valdemar Carvallo Díaz, born in Ciudad Eten, Lambayeque - Peru, is a servant of God with more than four decades of Christian service. From the age of 19, he responded faithfully to the call of the Lord, giving his life to pastoral and missionary ministries focused principally on the Peruvian jungle, a territory that has become the center of his evangelical work.
He is a Business Administrator by profession and has a Masters in Theological Sciences. Pastor Adan puts both his business and theological training to work in the service of the Church providing spiritual vision, leadership and ministerial management to countless jungle communities. On March 3, 2002, he and his wife, Pastor Pilar Gonzales Pizarro (Degree in Theological Sciences) founded their church in Morales, Peru called Misión Cristiano Libertad Verdadera (True Freedom Christian Mission), from which he and Pastor Pilar promote the training of leaders, pastors and missionaries.
Together Pastors Adan and Pilar have devoted their lives to the preaching of the gospel, discipleship and the planting of new churches and the discipling of God’s people. His ministry is distinguished by a deep spirit of service, commitment to God and a marked sensitivity to the spiritual and social needs of the communities.
They are the parents of four children: Jhonatan (31), Cesia (29), Keren (22) and Joshua (8), and are blessed to be the grandparents of a grandson. Pastor Adan’s family has been an essential pillar in his ministerial call, walking alongside him with faith, unity and dedication to the Lord's work.
As a result of his vision, obedience, perseverance and endurance he has founded twelve churches in the Peruvian jungle, impacting rural and urban communities, raising up and equipping church leaders and sowing hope through the transformative message of Jesus Christ. This family has also developed social projects oriented to the integral well-being of Amazonian communities, contributing to the spiritual and social development of various cities in the region.
Currently, he serves as President of the Interdenominational Fraternity of United Evangelical Ministers (FIMEU) - Tarapoto, San Martín, where he promotes pastoral unity, ministerial restoration and the strengthening of Christian leadership.
Pastors Adan and Pilar are the founders of the evangelical and humanitarian mega project "Rise up and Shine" (Isaiah 60:1) (“Levántate y Resplandece”), an initiative that joins Peruvian pastors and their churches together with international missionaries to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ throughout the jungle of Peru, exalting the name of Christ at all times.
Christine LaPeer
After graduating from Michigan Technological University with a Bachelor of Science inMedical Technology (with High Honor), Christine spent the better part of the late 80’sand early 90’s working at Beaumont Hospital in Southeast Michigan before leaving the workforce to raise her three wonderful children now ages 35, 32, and 19.
A talented violinist and vocalist, Christine has led worship for more than three decades, directed more than thirty Christmas programs, and launched the children’s ministry and youth ministries at Crossroads Church (the church the LaPeer family attended for nearly 20 years) while serving as chairman of the church council for several years.
In the mid 2000’s, she spent a decade teaching worship arts at a Christian High School in Highland, Michigan before the Lord called her into Christian mission work where she has opened homes for women rescued from human trafficking, built four orphanages in India, and provided dozens of large clean water purification systems to villages throughout Central and South America. Christine has traveled with small and large international evangelism teams to three continents and been a part of the building of 8 churches along the Huallaga River in Peru.
In the past ten years the Lord has called Christine back to her medical roots as a servant to the marginalized communities of the world. During this time she has served in, directed and organized free medical clinics in Honduras, Nicaragua, the Dominican Republic and Peru. She has served on and overseen large teams of both local and international medical practitioners who have provided free medical care to tens of thousands of people.
Christine was also responsible for bringing the revolutionary Global Vision 2020 (www.gv2020.org) low-cost distance vision glasses system to South America – a work that has since changed the destinies of thousands of people suffering from poor distance vision by providing them with affordable, high-quality glasses.
When Christine isn’t leading ministry teams to the jungle of Peru, she enjoys sewing, crocheting, studying God’s Word (Diploma of Ministry), and of course spending time with her three children and two grandsons.
Pastor Karl LaPeer
Karl LaPeer is an ordained pastor, evangelist, and businessman and currently serves as the director of (and teacher in) the Kodesh School of Ministry in Rochester, Michigan, a ministry school for “ordinary Christians” he co-founded in 2022. Karl was saved at the age of 12 after literally being “scared straight” by a gospel tract and has served for over three decades in the local church as a preacher, teacher, worship leader, youth leader, soccer coach, and giver.
Between 2013 and 2015, Karl, Christine and their children funded the building of four orphanages (25 children each) and two freshwater wells in India. It was in 2013, on his way back from opening the first of these orphanages, that the Holy Spirit confronted Karl with the knowledge that he was living his life as a “rich fool”. Since then, Karl has spent countless hours in study, prayer, and preparation to develop a teaching seminar entitled “All of All of Me” – a teaching that reminds Christians that millions of people around us are perishing in their sins, and that God created and set each of us apart for specific purposes and He expects us to use what He has uniquely given us to reach the lost and broken, urgently, relentlessly, even if it means a life of sacrifice for us personally.
The revelation that God wanted All of All of him led Karl and his family to participate in numerous evangelism and helps trips to Africa, Asia and Central & South America. It was on the family’s final 1N1D campaign in 2019 that the LaPeers first connected with the Pastors of the Peruvian jungle.
Karl met his wife, Christine at the age of 18 (on their second day of college) and in 2026 they will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary. They have three children ages 35, 32, and 19 and two grandsons.
As a businessman, Karl is a senior partner in private equity firm that began in 1995 with $20 million and has since invested over $2.0 billion in more than 150 small manufacturing, distribution and service companies throughout North America. On every Rise Up and Shine trip Karl speaks at universities and in business conferences, pouring not only spiritual wisdom, but also practical knowledge into the local communities of the jungle of Peru.
Karl’s business and personal interests have carried him and his family to over 40 countries on 6 continents. He holds a BS in mechanical engineering (with High Honor) from Michigan Technological University and an MBA (with High Distinction) from the University of Michigan. He speaks German and is a member of the CFA Institute.
